David's Ultra Marathon

Event date

Hello, thank you for visiting my event page.

On Monday 5th April we sadly lost Natalie Haigh.

In 2018 she was diagnosed with breast cancer which she overcame to then have the miracle baby Owen-James. Cancer cruelly came back in her lungs, liver, bones and brain.

She will be missed so much by her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. We all have our memories of Natalie, I will miss our camping trips in the lake district, chatting over campfires at family BBQs and debating which Fleetwood Mac songs were the greatest.

It’s truly heartbreaking and unfair that Natalie was taken from us at the young age of 29, only a few days after Owen’s first birthday.

Macmillan Cancer Support gave Natalie a grant of over £300 so she could get all the palliative care equipment that she needed into her family home. This charity pays all of the nursing staff’s wages as well as giving financial support to other cancer sufferers.

The ‘Lakeland 100’ is a 105 mile circular route covering 6000m of ascent along public bridleways and footpaths through valleys and fells of the Lake District. This race starts and ends in Coniston, Cumbria. The cut-off time is 40 hours. It is a single-stage event that starts at 6pm on Friday 23rd July and ends at 10am on the following Sunday.
