Speranza Harle-Cowan

Losing our mum after a short battle with brain cancer is as unfathomable as it is devastating for our tiny family, who she has taken care of and loved fiercely. She was someone so profoundly special and full of life, whose bottomless kindness and caring nature was legendary amongst everyone who knew her. She and our dad are a true love story; soulmates, whose relationship taught us what love really means, and how to love ourselves and others. She is the best part of all of us. She granted us her gift of empathy, allowing us to be strong, loving human beings. She was someone that always wanted to spend time with us and talk to us, even if she had no interest in common with what we were doing, she'd always be willing to involve herself or learn so she could be part of our lives. She showed up for every breakdown, every appointment, every celebration, every life event; she was there for all of us, always, no matter what. Through this trying time, the messages from people she met, befriended, and took into her care have been a humbling testament to her character, and speak volumes about how many lives she touched and made better. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and never forgotten by anyone she encountered. We the family would like no flowers or gifts, but ask that you instead donate to Macmillan, as they are an important charity to us, directly supporting our mum. From helping her with a bout of breast cancer many years ago, to supporting her through her dad’s cancer and care after that, to most recently paying for the wonderful palliative care team who made her final days as pain free and comfortable as possible. We would love to read your messages of love and any memories or photos you have on this page, so we can save and cherish it all. Thank you for your contributions to us, her, and Macmillan.
