Sandra Joy

In so many ways Sandra was selfless and devoted much of her time to volunteering. She volunteered for the Colehill Cub Scouts for over 38 years where she retired as an Akela. She also supported the running of the Granfers Day section at the Great Dorset Steam Fair for 7 Years, after exhibiting there for over 30 years.
Sandra’s working life consisted of being a conveyancing solicitor, and one that you did not mess with (we know this from experience). She was passionate about the work that she did and spoke fondly of her time working until she passed. She often spoke of her dad’s pub in Wimborne (The Crown and Anchor) and the fond memories she had of spending time there whilst he worked. She continued her love of pubs and could often be found with Dave on a Saturday night in a local pub testing out their menu with close friends.
Sandra was creative in many ways and spent many an hour with her knitting needles and wool making all sorts of items to donate and sell. She liked to be in the kitchen baking an assortment of sugary goods for Dave, Kevin and Darren. She loved being outdoors and taking Kevin and Darren down to the beach, leaving Dave at home to look after the dogs. She loved to spend time reading and was always on the hunt for new books, but mostly she loved the Harry Potter series.
The family would like to support Macmillan as they were an unwavering support for Sandra and the family throughout some of the tough times. When Sandra first got her diagnosis, it was a shock to all of the family, but the Macmillan team spent the time to sit with Sandra and Dave to discuss the situation and answer any questions they had. They were always there when the family needed to call and speak to someone to ask questions, seek advice and get support.
Please share your fond memories and stories of Sandra so we can all remember the good times we had with her.
