Megan Jenkinson

Megan was a bright fiesty ambitious and intelligent young woman who lived her 30 years at a fast pace. She really lived. She has left three glorious sons. Not one ounce of her wanted to die. She studied Law at Keele, then moved on to study Medicine also at Keele where she has had glowing tributes from her teachers, and now an award of her medical degree posthumous. Megan was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018 aged 28. Her cancer had already advanced beyond potentially curative surgical treatment. Megan's treatment for cancer was brutal. She had 28 rounds of chemotherapy in early 2019. She continued to study medicine, submitting work, attending lectures and completing exams. She never gave up on medicine and their admiration of her increased through the treatment. In summer 2020 after relapse and radical surgery at the Marsden Hospital in London followed by admission one day post discharge for sepsis. Meg remained an active medical student until October 2020. She was able to continue despite being post op and immuno compromised because of the Covid outbreak and being able to study from home. The last 6 months of her life she focussed on the boys. She wanted them to have good memories of family. They all went on holidays together and walks out. She prioritised her sons over any wishes she could have for herself. She still studied ever hopeful for the cure to her illness and her future with her sons.
