Joy Harrison

Our beautiful Joy the heart and soul of our family lost a short battle with cancer on the 19th May 2021. Devoted wife of almost 50 years to Peter, Best Mum we ever could have dreamed of to Tracy and Karen, Mum-in-law to Adie and Andy, cherished Nan to Connor, Rachel, Kyle and Lucy and sister to Steven (and late Eric and David). Our Mum was diagnosed with a large rare retroperitonial sarcoma on the 18th March. After confirmation via biopsies she was admitted to hospital for surgery to removed the tumour and impacted organs, kidney and spleen and although the operation successfully removed the cancer post op complications caused irreversible damage to many organs and despite efforts she passed peacefully in hospital on 19th May with Peter and her daughters at her bedside. The covid pandemic has created to many delays to diagnosis and treatment and cancer charities will require all the help they can get to support the many patients impacted. In our beautiful Joy's memory we ask that any family and friends who want to honour her make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. Every penny helps. There are too many wonderful memories of Joy to single any out but she was simply a beautiful lady inside and out. Fit and healthy, truly devoted to her family and friends. She loved to travel especially cruises visiting as many countries as she could from the Far East to the Caribbean and many places in between. Our hearts are broken but hopefully by creating this tribute we can help other people and help Macmillian provide comfort and support to other families.
