“Can you fix my lights?” the old woman said to me, “I’m getting on in years and find it hard to see” I pulled out the fuse and checked the switch, then tested the wires to see which was which, “Nothing wrong there, must be the fitting”, “I’ll get some steps, you carry on knitting”, I stood on the steps and took down the light, But found nothing wrong, try as I might, with mounting terror,I looked at the bits - And realised I couldn’t put it all back together, “You know” said the old woman, as she put waste in the bin, “The last time this happened, I just put a new bulb in” Dave Coulson
