Shova Bhattacherjee

Thank you for taking the time to visit Shova’s tribute page. Shova died peacefully at home on Thursday 6th January at 4:30 pm and was with her husband and son. Although Shova did not suffer from cancer herself, the MacMillan team have been a massive support for her over the past few years. We would like to recognise this by raising funds for them. Shova was born in West Bengal, India on 20th December 1949. She had a wonderful childhood surrounded by her many family and friends. Shova eventually found herself in the UK in October 1971 after marrying Devapriyo. Shova missed the warm sun more than anything and remembers waiting for the postman daily in case someone had written her a letter. Shova quickly adapted to life in the UK and made many friends. Eventually Shova was blessed with a son Neil in June 1973, who she continued to mother even after 48 years. Shova worked in many roles and enjoyed learning and exploring new cultures and food in the big wide world outside of India. Shova continued to make friends with everyone she met and would help anyone at anytime. Eventually she was blessed with 3 beautiful granddaughters Chloe, Leah and April whom she loved and spoke about all the time. She was so proud of her granddaughters and seeing them or hearing from them made her the happiest and proudest person in the room. In later years Shova travelled to Spain and wanted to retire there in the warm sun. Although she never got to do that she never lost that dream and continued to watch other peoples tales of buying property and living in Spain on tv. Unfortunately after being ill with influenza at home, Shova passed away peacefully and quickly. It was completely unexpected and sudden and the only comfort we can take was she did not suffer. Whether you can give a little or you can give a lot, everything counts, and we thank you for donations.
