Paul Whitworth

Paul and I met through our love for volleyball at the fabulous Bridlington beach volleyball competition. It was to be our wedding place and a place we shall both hold close to our hearts, it is our pilgrimage place. Although as people know we promised never to play on the same team, not that I am saying that Paul was very competitive but ..... those who knew him would know he could be a grump on court if he wasn't playing well and winning. It was always our special place. Paul loved becoming a grandad and became more and more confident as the grandsons arrived, he had 3:Arthur, Dylan and baby Jack and a great nephew Jackson. He slotted into family life and was loved by all. His cheekiness and respectful way of being with people settled well with his new family. Paul's own family are in Carlisle and London. He saw these when he could and had trips away with his brother and nephew planned, along with seeing the Eagles and Rolling stones, were alas due later this year. He loved his volleyball, basketball, cricket and formula one. Playing sport had always been a major part of his life. He loved to travel and to cook. We travelled to Cuba and honeymooned in Thailand taking boats on the river Kwai and doing cookery school. We had a fabulous 11 years, I only wish it could have been more. Macmillan helped Paul to come to terms with his cancer and supported him and I all the way. The staff at James Cook were amazing and fought alongside us together to beat this cruel situation. Alas it was not to be. Paul was always keen to fundraise for charity and did so on many occasions at bt, his work, always ready to dress up qnd take part,he took surplus lunches during lockdown to a homeless sheltered accommodation when he was on shift. Just before he died he insisted on joining a charity walk, never one to give up or stop fighting on. I, we hope you can help him continue with this by donating to the charity that helped him when he needed it most.
