Geraldine Pile

Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2020. It was a diagnosis that we all found difficult to accept, Mum especially. She did her very best to keep as strong as she could, going for walks around Ashton Park and Kelsall Park. She spent most of her remaining days cosy and warm at home in front of the fire. We received excellent care from Macmillan nurses, both while Mum was at home and when she was admitted to hospital the week before she died. They treated her with the utmost compassion and guided us through some very difficult times. There are many things that I will miss now that Mum is no longer with us. Most of all I will miss the example she gave of how to be generous. She would often tell me, "If I have it and you need it or want it, then it's yours." I know that she would want us all to support Macmillan as best we can as a way to say thank you for helping both her and us through the hard weeks before she died. Thank you in anticipation.
